Hurricane Earl made landfall on August 30th 2010 on the island of St.Maarten as a category 3 hurricane. 

TelEm Group is assessing damage to company facilities and equipment following the passage of Hurricane Earl during the early hours of Monday.

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten – The EOC would announce when hurricane shelters would be activated. 

The United People's Party held their 1st public meeting on Saturday August 28th 2010 from 7:30 pm to 12 midnight in Sucker Garden. 

Consequently the WICB Office will be closed until further notice.

Inclement weather is expected near the island of Sint Maarten on Monday August 30th, 2010. This will possibly restrict bridge openings due to expected high wind gusts. 

The Office of Disaster Management is urging the public to closely monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Earl which is approaching the North Eastern Caribbean islands. 

The Office of Disaster Management is advising political parties participating in the September 17 elections to have a plan in place for the removal of all political campaign material such as political billboards, and flags attached to guard rails in the event of a storm threat to the island. 

With the 2010 hurricane season having now entered the peak period, the Office of Disaster Management & Preparedness is urging livestock owners to review their plans now of how they will secure their livestock in the event of a hurricane strike.

On April 10th 2010 Mr. Bart Reyer Pasman died.

The Public Prosecutor at that time ordered that the body of the deceased had to be examined in order to determine the exact cause of death.

On Wednesday August 25th at approximately 03.00 p.m. a police patrol was stopped on the Sint Peters road by the man with the initials M.H.A. who was victim of a break in of his home earlier during the day. During this break in several electronic appliances and jewelry were stolen.  

On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 04.00 p.m. police and detectives were directed to Welfare road in the vicinity of Peiking Supermarket for a stabbing incident. On the scene the investigating officers did not encounter the victim and were told, that he was taken by private vehicle to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for treatment. 

On Wednesday August 25th at approximately 08.40 p.m. several police patrols and Detectives were sent to Madrid Drive in Dutch Quarter for a shooting incident. On the scene the investigating officers encountered the victim with the initials A.S. 37 years old from Jamaica lying on the street. The victim was bleeding from gun shot wounds to both legs. 

In connection with several ongoing investigations by the Detective Department and based on very important information provided by some very concerned citizens in the Down Street area, two houses were searched by police and Detectives on Thursday afternoon. 

Thursday morning at approximately 09.30 a.m. a break-in that was taking place in a house on Back street was reported to the Central Police Dispatch and that the three suspects involved in the break-in was on the run. Immediately a police patrol was sent to investigate.

An International Referee Refresher Course was conducted at the FIVB Regional Development Center in the Dominican Republic from Wednesday August 18th to Sunday August 22 .
